Abstract

The article explores the ways and means of developing a person’s self-worth, which is a pressing problem due to the fact that a significant number of client requests and otherwise concern unformed or damaged self-worth. Self-worth is understood as a basic attitude that is formed in early childhood as a reflected attitude of the closest adults and is experienced by the individual as a stable feeling of how good and valuable he is in his uniqueness, deserving of love, respect and attention from others. This basic attitude is relatively stable throughout life, changing under the influence of very significant events. Unlike self-esteem, the feeling of self-worth is independent of the achievements and gains of the individual., and remains relatively stable throughout life or changes under the influence of significant events and psychological work. The ideas of the ways and conditions of such work are contained in the works analyzed by us by A. Adler, M. Goulding and R. Goulding, K. Rogers, V. Satir, V. Oaklander A. Lenglet, L. Bourbo. A. Adler believes in this regard that working with false cognitive assumptions, which often make up the individual's unconscious life plan, occurs in 3 stages: observing the client and determining his life plan; revealing to the client his false life plan; helping the client change the plan. Transactional analysis offers a method of making a new decision to change the self-esteem setting: for this purpose, scenes from memory that correspond to a false prescription, or imaginary scenes that metaphorically correspond to the prescription, and dreams are used. From the point of view of K. Rogers, the tool for restoring self-esteem is the psychotherapeutic relationship itself, which translates unconditional acceptance into also helping to restore the integrity lost by the personality. According to A. Lenglet, there are 3 conditions for the development of self-worth, which are first manifested by others, and then transformed into self-attitude: respectful attention, fair treatment, and recognition of value. V. Satir suggests, first of all, learning more about yourself and taking care of yourself, developing self-understanding and self-acceptance. V. Oaklander sees a tool for developing self-worth in drama and improvisation, in order to touch your own essence through spontaneity and begin to better understand and realize yourself. L. Bourbo defines several steps: identifying trauma, certain habits and ways of thinking in relationships with yourself, inhibiting your need to compensate for low self-worth, mastering a certain way of perceiving others, and offers a number of unique practices for each of these steps.
