Abstract
The article examines the names of preschool institutions in Kyiv in pragmatic and linguistic aspects. A typology of ergonyms according to the motivational structure is proposed. Fifteen groups have been conditionally identified: names of preschool institutions as special children's areas; ergonyms derived from the names of plants; nominations of children by various characteristics; names with words on fairy tale themes; names derived from the names of natural phenomena; ergonyms derived from zoonуms;lexemes denoting values important for children and adults; nominalisations derived from words of general children's themes; names related to the educational process; locative ergonyms; anthroponymic names; memorial names; ergonyms derived from game names and lexemes of unclear motivation. It was shown that the majority of the names are presented in Ukrainian, and names borrowed from other languages were also recorded. It is specially noted of ergonyms that combines two languages in one name. The main method of creating 'children's' ergonyms is transonymisation, i.e., the use of onyms from other categories for naming objects. Attention is drawn to transonymisation is usually accompanied by suffixation. Оnimization is also a prevalent method. The investigated units often formed by changing the semantics of certain words, as well as by through foundation formation. Isolated lexemes formed through prefixation and abbreviation have been recorded. It has been emphasized that some of the investigated units are formed through the onimization of verbal complexes. Ergonyms-word combinations and ergonyms-sentences are noted. Four types of graphic means, that implement the advertising function of ergonyms are identified: expressive orthography, the use of Latin for Ukrainian words and Cyrillic for loanwords, graphic hybridisation (the use of double graphics (Cyrillic and Latin)) and graphic play. It has been established that one-member ergonyms prevail (74%). 26% of the ergonyms are multi-member, including 22.5% of two-component ones. Names predominantly include addressive signs in their titles. The tendency to change the motivational structure of ergonyms, language and methods of creation has been revealed. It has been established that the majority of names of preschool institutions founded in Soviet era are oriented towards children. Names addressed to parents are primarily recently established private preschools. These names emphasize the modernity of the preschool and quality of education.
