Abstract

The article analyzes the factors that play a key role in the peace education concept development in Ukraine, taking into account the military-political situation in the country. The main aspects that need to be taken into account when developing such a concept are identified, in particular, improving the legal framework, adapting educational programs to the challenges of the war period, counteracting anti-democratic ideologies, increasing the role of communities in peace education, and the need for special educational activities for military personnel and internally displaced persons. The need to amend the legislation of Ukraine, in particular the Law “On Education” and other regulations governing the implementation of peace education in educational institutions and labor collectives is reviewed. The importance of adopting bylaws at thelevel of the Government and relevant ministries to ensure the efficient implementation of peace initiatives is emphasized. Special attention is paid to the issue of developing a network of mediation centers as a way of preventing and resolving conflicts at the community levelThe peculiarities of peace education for military personnel and IDP are examined. They should be implemented via the system of vocational training and retraining, social protection and improvement of living conditions. It is justified that such a three-pronged approach will contribute to the social adaptation of these population groups, the formation of tolerance, the development of dialogue skills and the avoidance of conflict situations. The article also highlights the impact of global trends on the formation of domestic peace education policy. The threats associated with the spread of right-wing radical ideologies in Europe and Ukraine, which can lead to the country's isolation in the international arena and internal social tensions are identified. A special emphasis is placed on the need to counteract information impact that contributes to the spread of nostalgia for the Soviet era and the introduction of anti-democratic narratives into society. The role of communities in peace education is considered and the main problems of its implementation in rural and urban communities, including human and resource shortages, are specified.Specific mechanisms for improving the situation are proposed, including the organization of summer schools for teachers, the introduction of specialization in peace education, and the conduct of field trainings for teachers. The specific nature of the peace education areas for different types of communities, including environmental safety, social justice, economic development and anti-bullying, are identified.
