Abstract

Formal nouns differ from ordinary ones in that their own lexical meaning is almost not expressed, and the vast majority of problematic moments of a linguodidactic nature are associated with features that are universal for the entire class of nouns. First, it is possible to state the difficulties in mastering the mechanism of formation of grammatical constructions due to the misunderstanding of the simple fact that they include a (formal) noun. Second, when performing exercises on the choice of the appropriate formal means, students often make mistakes and choose the wrong noun. Thus, the problem of effective representation of formal nouns in the process of learning Japanese as a foreign language has always been and remains relevant. At the current stage of development of the methodology, there has also been a need for a separate, thorough consideration of substantivators.
