Анотація
This work examines the theme of loss in World War I trench poetry (1914–1919) by analyzing works by Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, Isaac Rosenberg, and Edward Thomas. It explores how loss is depicted not only as physical death but also as the erosion of innocence and the transformation of landscapes, reflecting both individual grief and collective mourning. Drawing on critical insights from scholars like Paul Fussell and Catherine Reilly, the study reveals how trench poetry captures the collapse of pre-war idealism and the profound cultural impact of mechanized warfare.
