Abstract
The growing role of informal education in different countries of the world as an effective tool for developing individual competencies throughout life has actualized its importance in the adult education system, because its multi-vector nature, accessibility, short-term nature, and other features have ensured the realization of individual educational requests and needs of the adult population in today's unstable world. The article explores and characterizes the principles of non-formal adult education in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which are defined as the fundamental starting points for the entire non-formal education system and its subdivisions. It is noted that non-formal education in the UK is an important factor in social integration, selfdevelopment, achieving career and professional growth through the development of competencies and the acquisition of necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. It is emphasized that non-formal education in the UK is focused on meeting the modern demands and needs of its adult population, contributes to increasing the level of knowledge and competencies, professional mobility, career stability, competitiveness, professionalism, etc. It has been determined that the main principles of non-formal adult education in the UK are mutual influence and complementarity of formal and non-formal education; flexibility and adaptability of the educational process; inclusiveness and accessibility; variability and interactivity; short-term study; learning in action. The study of the non-formal education principles in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is an urgent task from the standpoint of their implementation in the system of non-formal adult education in Ukraine in terms of the martial law and the post-war reconstruction
