Abstract
The article is devoted to a comparative analysis of the dramaturgical image of Socrates as a measure of the values of democracy in the plays of Polish playwright Herbert Zbigniew The Cave of the Philosophers and Ukrainian playwright Valery Gerasymchuk’s Hemlock for Socrates. It is proved that both playwrights make the image of Socrates a key for philosophical reflections not only about human life and death, but primarily about the fate and prospects of democracy in post- totalitarian Europe.
