Abstract
The article provides a retrospective analysis of the development of music education methods for schoolchildren in the 20th century. It defines the following concepts: ‘educational goal,’ ‘goal of music education,’ ‘music education,’ ‘upbringing,’ ‘development,’ and ‘methods of music education for schoolchildren’ (according to O. Rostovsky). According to O. Rostovsky, the goal of teaching music education methods to schoolchildren is to form the musical and pedagogical culture of future music teachers, which is understood as the ability to use knowledge and skills in the process of comprehending the problems of teaching music in school and creative activities aimed at solving them, as well as a holistic vision of the pedagogical process. The leading systems of musical and rhythmic education of children by Emile Jacques Dalcroze and Carl Orff are considered. Emphasis is placed on the methodology of motor interpretation of musical elements. Autobiographical information from the life of K. Orff is presented, which served as the historical prerequisites for the creation of K. Orff's musical and pedagogical system. The types of musical activity according to Carl Orff's musical-pedagogical system are revealed. The essence of Boris Trichkov's methodological system is revealed. The types of work according to B. Trichkov, which formed the basis of musical activity in classes with preschool and school-age children (coordination of children's hearing European music; cultivation of love for music, as well as the formation of a desire to sing), are highlighted. The stages of teaching ‘conscious’ singing from sheet music are specified, namely: gradual singing of scales (without jumps); singing with jumps along the steps of the scale according to B. Trichkov. The musical and pedagogical concept of Boleslav Yavorsky is characterised. The process of forming a child's musical perception and musical creativity according to B. Yavorsky is revealed, which, in his opinion, should include five stages of ‘introduction to creativity’: accumulation of impressions; spontaneous expression of creativity in visual, sensory-motor, and linguistic manifestations; improvisation in movement, speech, music, and illustration in drawings; creation of one's own artistic compositions; musical creativity (creation of songs, plays). The authors note that further scientific research will focus on music education systems for the upbringing of 21st-century schoolchildren.
