Abstract

Each language in the world is, without a doubt, a priceless cultural asset, a wonderful treasure, a bottomless well, and a unique book that proves and confirms the existence of a nation. It is a book that will never be fully read or reinterpreted, because it has no final page; at the end there are always ellipses... Language is an extremely flexible and living phenomenon that is constantly being updated, adapting to the demands and needs of modern life. While this is a completely natural process, it creates certain obstacles for students learning a particular language as a foreign one. This is because students who choose to learn a foreign language inevitably envision future communication with its native speakers. They intend to use speaking to communicate. Therefore, we decided to study the issue of effective communication, the ways to develop speaking skills, and the strategies and methods of mastering communicative skills and competencies in the Japanese language. In our research, we examined a variety of trends, perspectives, opinions, and research results from foreign and Ukrainian scholars. We tried to approach this issue from different angles and concluded that the range of modern methods for speaking and communication teaching is quite diverse. To facilitate the perception of material, visualization should be used. The development of communicative skills is a rather volatile process, and to support it, teachers need to find a balance between speaking skills, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension, all of which are closely interconnected. We believe another important challenge for teachers is to convince students that a decent command of Japanese, and the ability to express oneself correctly while respecting the norms and rules of Japanese society, is one of the secrets to their success in life. After all, an Eastern language is a source of wisdom, and learning it is a path that brings one closer to it.
