Abstract
The article presents a comparative analysis of the of an empirical study results of the basic beliefs of students and their parents about the world, upbringing and marital relations. In general, the results of the study drmonstrated that in the system of basic beliefs about the world both students and their parents have the most pronounced indicators of stable self-confidence, especially the ability to self-control. At the same time, significant differences were found among the groups. Students are more inclined to believe in benevolence of the world and kindness of people, while this belief is significantly weakened in parents. Also students unlike parents demonstrate disbelief in the justice of the world. It was found that both students and their parents have common beliefs about the most important aspects of upbringing children, in particular, they believe that the most important traits to raise in children are moral qualities that help them successfully adapt in society. Despite common trends, there are also significant differences: students in their beliefs about upbringing children attach greater importance to the development of self-confidence, self-esteem and business qualities that contribute to success while parents are more focused on upbringing moral traits and the ability to overcome life obstacles. It is concluded that the belief about an ideal marriage partner has both gender and generational differences, although there are some common guidelines among above mentioned groups. The main common trends are that representatives of both generations and genders value certain similar character traits, but their priorityare changing. For example, with age, the importance of self-confidence as an ideal partner trait decreases. Regarding gender differences, women value kindness and sensitivity more in men, while men tend to attach greater importance to dominance and self-confidence, which indicates their traditional perception of the role of men in marriage. Interestingly, in their ideas about the ideal wife, women strive for greater dominance than men expect from them
