Abstract

The article explores the role of digital technologies in shaping university students’ cognitive orientation in the context of foreign language learning. It emphasizes that digital tools – particularly educational platforms such as Moodle, multimedia resources, and online applications – play a crucial role in fostering an interactive educational environment. This environment enhances students’ motivation, stimulates cognitive engagement, and supports the development of communicative competence. The paper highlights how digital technologies contribute to the individualization of the learning process, intensify independent study, and broaden access to educational resources, while also enabling more effective knowledge assessment. The analysis of recent research by both domestic and international scholars confirms the pedagogical effectiveness of integrating digital technologies into foreign language instruction. It is argued that digital educational environments create favorable conditions for the development of students’ sociocultural competence, reduce language barriers, enhance motivation for self-improvement, and ultimately improve the quality of education in a globalized world.
