Анотація

The article explores current trends in the formation of new phraseological units in modern journalistic texts. It emphasizes that journalism, being sensitive to societal, political, economic, and technological changes, actively reflects these dynamics in language. Phraseological units play a key role in enriching journalistic discourse, enhancing its expressiveness and emotional impact through pictorial-emotional and pictorial-descriptive functions. The paper identifies the main tendencies in the creation of new idioms influenced by the digital era (e.g., digital detox, deepfake dilemma), sociopolitical shifts (gaslighting the public, climate anxiety), and transformations in workplace culture (quiet quitting, work-life balance). The study also highlights the challenges translators face when recognizing and reproducing phraseological units, as their meanings often differ from the sum of their parts. Proper identification and understanding of these expressions are crucial for effective translation and communication in contemporary media.
