Abstract

During adolescence, which is accompanied by intense physiological, psychological, and social changes, an important factor in safe adulthood is the availability of scientifically based, comprehensive, and accessible sex education. The formation of sexual culture in adolescence is an important condition for the socialization of a young person and his readiness for healthy, responsible relationships. The article considers comprehensive sexual education as an effective tool for forming sexual culture among adolescents. The content and principles of comprehensive sexual education, its role in the development of knowledge, attitudes and behavior of young people regarding sexual and reproductive health, gender equality and human rights are analyzed. It has been determined that the key principles of comprehensive sexuality education are: scientific and reliable information, adaptation to the psychosocial development of adolescents, gender sensitivity, human rights and inclusion, and a partnership approach. Sex education is a key factor in shaping the sexual culture of youth, which includes not only knowledge, but also moral values, attitudes, risky behavior, and social orientations. Thanks to this, adolescents are given the opportunity to build healthy, responsible, and ethical relationships, which has a positive impact on their well-being and the development of society as a whole. The authors emphasize that the successful implementation of comprehensive sexuality education requires interdisciplinary interaction: an educational component, a medical component, a social component, and cooperation with non-governmental organizations. As an example of the implementation of sexual education in secondary education institutions and in the activities of nongovernmental organizations, the impact of the comprehensive preventive «Program 15» on the formation of participants’ correct ideas about socially dangerous phenomena and sexually transmitted diseases, development of safe behavior skills, overcoming critical situations and making responsible decisions, formation of values of health and personal dignity.
