Abstract
The paper deals with the problem of rendering idiostylistic features in The Blue Rose. The features of Lesia Ukrainka’s idiolect within the idiostyle of The Blue Rose have been characterised. The plot and compositional features of the original text and its specifics of narration are analysed. It has been revealed, that idioms, aphorisms, quotations, borrowings and proverbs form the biggest portion of the source text’s idiostyle. In addition, a variety of literary devices representing intertextual, symbolic and humorous nature of the source text as a part of its idiostyle have been characterized. The difficulties of translating a dramatic text and the difficulties of translating a Ukrainian text into German are analysed. Methods of compensating for translation losses within the framework of a translation strategy for the stage are proposed.
