Abstract
Military discourse occupies a special place in the field of professional communication, reflecting the values, structure, and operational mechanisms of the armed forces. It plays a crucial role in ensuring command, discipline, effective coordination, and successful operational outcomes. Translation of military texts is a complex task that requires not only high linguistic competence but also a deep understanding of military terminology, cultural nuances, and professional standards. Nowadays, Ukrainian military discourse is developing dynamically, particularly against the backdrop of increased international cooperation, active military reforms, and the need for updating Ukrainian-language military terminology. Translation of foreign professional military literature into Ukrainian is especially relevant today, as it provides access to advanced knowledge and contributes to the professionalization of Ukrainian armed forces. In this translation project, we work with the book Operational Logistics by Moshe Kress — a scientific publication that examines the principles and organization of operational logistics. The text belongs to the category of official military discourse and is characterized by the use of precise terminology, formal sentence structures, and a high degree of terminological saturation.
