Abstract
The influence of the Korean Wave-Hallu on today’s youth is very significant. What is the reason for this rapid influence of Hallyu? The Korean Wave itself is designed to gather people in one common cultural space. It should essentially cover everyone like a big sea wave. That was the idea of the Koreans and it worked, and now almost the whole world, even in Africa, not to mention Asia, Europe, and America, is familiar with Korean films, TV series (dramas), music, dance, and culture. The wave has also reached Ukraine, where almost everyone knows Korean films today, and many young people are fond of K-Pop. In this article, one can find the answer to the question why the whole world admires Hallyu? Is Hallyu a cultural or commercial phenomenon? Hallyu is the result of the integration of Korean culture into the globalizing culture of the world. This means a combination of the deeply national and the universal in Korean culture and social progress. Thus, today there is a Euro-Asian dialogue of cultures, and Koreans are successfully integrating into Western culture, but at the same time preserving their traditional, distinctive culture. The article emphasizes that Korean TV series are especially popular among asians due to the preservation of asian traditions based on Confucian teachings, such as the rule of elders over younger ones. Therefore, it can be concluded that Hallyu has successfully created a new value system in terms of content, by harmoniously combining traditional Confucian and modern Western cultures. Certainly, there were prerequisites for the successful emergence and spread of the Korean Hallyu wave. This article outlines five main factors that contributed to the successful emergence of Hallyu. Hallyu is the Korean Wave, a term that refers to and describes the spread of South Korea’s modern culture around the world. In this article, one can learn more about the impact of the Korean wave on the image of Koreans in general, as well as how Hallyu has helped to develop tourism in South Korea, which has led to economic growth.
