Abstract

This review article analyses foreign experience in the professional development of teachers of natural sciences, mathematics and technology, with an emphasis on its potential adaptation to the Ukrainian system of postgraduate teacher education in conditions of martial law. It emphasises the need to develop teachers’ competencies for the effective use of innovative educational technologies, the integration of research methods, and the development of reflective pedagogical practice. The methodology of the article involves a systematic, critical and comparative analysis of the results of recent foreign empirical studies, which allows us to outline current trends in the professional development of teachers and determine the prospects for their implementation in Ukraine. It is noted that in foreign studies, scientists propose the use of technology-oriented professional development programmes that promote the development of digital competence, pedagogical self-awareness, critical thinking and reflection skills of teachers. Particular attention is paid to the use of virtual simulations, digital educational platforms, and feedback tools that allow teachers to simulate real learning situations without the risk of error. It is emphasised that current trends in the professional development of teachers are focused on the integration of technological solutions that ensure the personalisation of teachers’ professional growth. It has been established that the integration of foreign practices into postgraduate teacher education in Ukraine will contribute to the formation of competent, reflective and innovation-oriented teachers who are able to adapt to digital challenges and ensure the quality of education in conditions of war and post-war recovery. It has been established that the content of professional development for teachers of natural sciences, mathematics and technology should be focused on the integration of modern digital tools, the development of pedagogical and research competence, the formation of reflective skills and the ability to adapt innovative methods to the conditions of the modern learning environment.
