Анотація
The paper examines how different types of trauma are verbalised in First World War trench poetry, focusing on the ways poets attempt to “articulate the inarticulable”. It first clarifies the key concepts of trauma and trench poetry, then analyses lexical-semantic features that encode physical, emotional, cognitive and moral injury in poems by Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon and other British soldier-poets. Special attention is paid to basic semantic markers (vivid sensory detail, raw emotion) and dominant features (critique of social systems, value shifts, collective grief) that reveal both individual and collective dimensions of war trauma.
