Abstract
The article examines the relationship between students' self-esteem and their tendency to conflict. Based on the analysis of modern scientific sources, it was found that self-esteem is a key factor that influences the choice of conflict resolution strategies, the level of social anxiety and psychological well-being of students. The study emphasizes the role of internal sources of self-esteem and resilience in reducing personality conflict. The results have practical significance for the development of psychological support programs for students, as they help to better understand how self-esteem interacts with behavior and interpersonal interactions, especially in the modern university environment, where students may face various challenges and conflicts. This study contributes to the development of effective support strategies and the formation of a positive attitude towards themselves in the student community. The modern educational environment of the university requires students not only to have academic skills, but also to be able to work effectively in a team, resolve conflicts, and adapt to a variety of unforeseen situations. Self-esteem affects how students perceive themselves, their capabilities, and limitations. Self-esteem is defined as an individual’s perception of their own worth, which is formed through social interactions and influences behavior and emotional state. Self-esteem is one of the key factors determining an individual’s behavior in social interactions. Of particular interest is the question of its relationship with conflict – a trait that determines an individual’s readiness for disputes, aggressive reactions, and confrontation. When preparing the article, the authors set the task of finding out whether self-esteem affects the choice of conflict resolution strategies, whether resilience mediates the relationship between self-esteem and mental health, and whether external self-esteem correlates with stress and conflicts. The results of the empirical study confirmed the idea that self-esteem is of decisive importance when choosing a strategy for behavior in a conflict. In addition, self-esteem is a key factor influencing the conflict of a student's personality, because high self-esteem contributes to constructive conflict resolution, and low self-esteem increases the tendency to choose strategies such as avoidance and struggle. It is important to note that resilience is important in overcoming the consequences of low self-esteem.
