Abstract

The article reveals the importance of forming analytical competence and the promising areas of its application for future specialists in information, library and archival affairs. The state of analytical competence formation among students of the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University who are studying under the educational program "Information, Library and Archival Affairs" is considered. Future information and library specialists master professional knowledge and skills such as the ability to collect, process, analyse information, documents, and information flows, conduct evaluations, systematization, monitoring of various types of activities, etc. It is proven that information and analytical activity is an integral part of the development of any industry. It successfully integrates the functions of scientific research (creation of new knowledge) and management (formation of management decision options and increasing the efficiency of their adoption). Modern approaches and methods, as well as the appropriate conditions created by higher education institutions, contribute to the formation of a competitive specialist, particularly in carrying out information and analytical activities. Considering the acquired knowledge and the formed analytical competence, the opportunities for employment and professional realization of specialists expand, both in libraries and archives, and in institutions focused on public administration, business analytics, and security analytics.
