Abstract

In this article, a comprehensive analysis is conducted on the functioning of Anglicisms in contemporary Italian media discourse within the framework of the universological-synergetic paradigm. The study explores how English borrowings are integrated into the multilayered structure of discursive reality and act as markers of sociocultural transformation. The focus is placed on lexical units that activate cognitive, axiological, and identity-related shifts within the linguistic worldview of modern Italy. A typology of Anglicisms is developed according to the levels of the universological model. Particular attention is given to the phenomenon of bifurcations—points of divergence between alternative trajectories of cultural development—and to the role of Anglicisms in encoding such shifts. The analysis demonstrates that English loanwords function not merely as linguistic innovations, but as carriers of new models of behavior, modes of thinking, and patterns of social interaction. The research reveals that linguistic globalization does not result in homogenization; rather, it manifests as a dynamic interplay between the local and the global, generating new semantic configurations and cultural meanings.
