Abstract

The article shows the propaganda and agitation of the occupation authorities through periodicals aimed at mobilizing labor resources in the occupied territories of Ukraine and their transfer to Germany to ensure the further advancement of the Third Reich army and the expansion of the occupation of other territories. The aim of the article is to determine the role of periodicals in the territories of Ukraine occupied by the German army and cinema in covering the process of deportation of Ukrainian workers for forced labor to Germany in 1941-1943. The methodology for studying the process of agitation among Ukrainians for forced labor to the Third Reich includes content analysis of periodicals and analysis of documents and testimonies, eyewitness letters to determine the role of periodicals and their impact on the moral and psychological state of the population and the decisions of residents of the occupied territories to go to work in Germany in 1941-1943. An analysis of periodicals published in various regions of occupied Ukraine and film materials created for active propaganda and agitation reveals the information policy of the occupation authorities and its activities aimed at the forced deportation of Ukrainians, especially young people, to Nazi Germany for work. All printed media were used for propaganda and agitation, including periodicals such as magazines, newspapers, brochures and leaflets. The occupation administration paid special attention to educating young people to be ready to go to Germany to work. During April-September 1942, in order to strengthen the moral and psychological impact on the local population, the German occupation administration in all regions of Ukraine published periodicals produced directly in Germany. The occupation administration also actively used cinema in its propaganda activities, since it had a more effective impact on the consciousness of the population. Thanks to eyewitness accounts and the memories of Ostarbeiters, it was revealed that the reports contained in periodicals and films did not reflect the real life of Ukrainian workers in Germany. The true picture of the work of Ukrainian workers leaked to the occupied territories. It is shown that, despite the active propaganda and enormous agitation work carried out by the leadership of the Third Reich and the administration of the occupied territories, Ukrainians very quickly became disappointed in the prospect of work in Germany. This led to the introduction of forced labor in Germany and the deterioration of the policy of the occupation authorities in Ukraine
