Abstract
This thesis analyzes how leading US media outlets covered the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022–2025 and how these publications shaped international perceptions of Ukraine. The object of study is the war reporting process in U.S. media. The subject is how exactly they interpret events, what frames they use, and what key narratives they build. We used several methods: content analysis, comparative analysis, and elements of framing theory. What did we find? U.S. media pay huge attention to the humanitarian side of things. They tell stories of ordinary civilians. They show how resilient Ukrainian society is. They talk about democratic values and why they matter. I also noticed an interesting shift. At first, coverage was event-driven — what’s happening right now, who’s advancing where. Then the focus moved toward deeper analysis and long-form narratives. Social media became incredibly important. Fact-checking and OSINT technologies turned into critical tools. The main conclusion is this: U.S. media genuinely play a key role in shaping Ukraine’s international image. They influence how willing the global community is to support us — politically, financially, morally. Based on what I studied, I developed recommendations on how Ukraine can improve its strategic communications in the Western information space. Because understanding how these mechanisms work gives us a real chance to tell our story better.
