Abstract
The project “Exploring Crimea: stories about art, history, and occupation” is an attempt to comprehend the history and culture of the Crimean Tatars through modern media. Its foundation is an English-language Instagram page aimed at an international audience. The focus is on themes of art, architecture, literature, historical events, traditions, and the contemporary life of Crimean Tatars under occupation. The project has educational, cultural, and informational functions, forming an alternative, truthful discourse about Crimea. One of the key tasks is creating content that combines academic accuracy with visual appeal. Through a series of visual posts, video reels, stories, and interviews with well-known Crimean Tatar artists and activists, the page shows that Crimean Tatar culture has not only survived numerous repressions but continues to develop. It presents the history of Crimea not as a territory of conflict but as a space of life, memory, and art that resists destruction. The success of the project can be defined by the audience’s engagement with the content, namely the comments they left under the posts, reposts on their own pages, sharing in stories, and likes. The relevance of the project is determined by the need to preserve cultural memory and a truthful narrative about Crimea in the global information space.
