Abstract
Relevance of the topic. During the period of active education reform in Ukraine, taking into account the best experience of the European Union countries, intensive modernization of educational approaches and teaching content is taking place. Particular attention is paid to updating the content of primary mathematical education, which is a basic component of the formation of key competencies of students. The study of the experience of EU countries shows that without thorough mathematical knowledge it is impossible to solve any important current problem of society. Modern processes of modernization of education, including primary education, include both the addition of traditional components of educational content and the introduction of new, modern technologies. The mathematical branch, in parallel with the language branch, is a basic component for the formation of the foundations of literacy of primary school students in the European Union, and therefore it has undergone major transformations at the request of modern society. Mathematics in primary school in the EU is being transformed into a mathematical and technological component, enriched by such areas as information and communication technologies (ICT). An important task of this component is to develop mathematical thinking in students, which is based on the ability to analyze, think logically and investigate real-life phenomena. This is achieved through the systematic use of modeling, logical tasks, interactive methods and practically oriented tasks.
