Abstract
The relevance of the study is determined by the need to improve the quality of reading activities of primary school students within the competence-based approach of the New Ukrainian School. Special attention is paid to the formation of intonational expressiveness skills, which contribute to a deeper understanding of literary texts, the development of speech culture, emotional intelligence, and communicative competence. The master’s thesis analyzes the theoretical foundations of the problem of forming intonational expressiveness skills in primary school students, determines the level of their development in 4th grade pupils, and substantiates effective pedagogical conditions for their formation. A pedagogical toolkit aimed at developing intonational expressiveness skills during reading lessons was designed and experimentally tested. It includes a system of exercises, intonational tasks, dramatization elements, and interactive teaching methods. The practical significance of the research lies in the possibility of applying the developed pedagogical toolkit in primary school practice to enhance students’ expressive reading skills.
