Abstract
The relevance of the study is due to the fact that the third year of life is a critical period for the formation of sensory-cognitive competence, which is the foundation of a child's intellectual development and meets the requirements of the State Standard for Preschool Education. The problem of the formation of sensory-cognitive competence, sensory standards, and cognitive activity has been thoroughly covered in the works of many classical and contemporary researchers. A contradiction has been identified between the high requirements of the State Standard for the level of sensory-cognitive competence formation at an early age and the insufficient methodological support for the use of didactic games as the leading means for its purposeful formation. The aim of the project is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally verify the effectiveness of using didactic games to form sensory-cognitive competence in children in their third year of life. The practical significance of the work lies in the development and testing of methodological support for the formation of sensory-cognitive competence in children in their third year of life, which materialized in the creation of the methodological manual «Exploring the world through play». The methodological guide contains a systematic selection of didactic games and exercises, indicative algorithms for conducting educational interaction, as well as recommendations for their use by preschool teachers.
