Abstract
The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the fact that one of the priority areas of modern preschool education is the formation of a holistic picture of the world, a modern worldview, abilities and skills of independent cognition in children. Therefore, it is important to create such conditions that would maximally contribute to the development of cognitive interests of children in modern conditions. One of the effective forms of developing cognitive interests of children of senior preschool age is project activity. The purpose of the work is to theoretically substantiate and experimentally verify the effectiveness of the methodology for developing cognitive interests of children of senior preschool age in project activity. Based on scientific research, the concepts of "interest", "cognitive interest", "cognitive interest of older preschool children" and "project activity" are revealed. In the study, the cognitive interest of a child of senior preschool age is considered as the child's active internal orientation towards cognition of the surrounding world, which manifests itself in the form of curiosity, interest, and desire to learn new things, ask questions, experiment and acquire knowledge through personal experience. The essence and features of project activity are considered. A methodology for developing the cognitive interests of older preschool children in project activities is presented. The practical significance of the study lies in the development of a methodological portfolio of thematic projects “Exploring the Natural World Together”. The main goal of the portfolio is to provide educators with theoretical and practical tools for the effective organization and implementation of project activities with older preschool children, aimed at developing their cognitive interest, creative thinking, independence, and social skills through various types of activities.
