Анотація

The text discusses the representation of the Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Soviet Ukraine, focusing on how the post-genocidal culture utilizes graphic novels to address this historical trauma. It highlights three transatlantic graphic novels that convey the Holodomor's impact through various narrative techniques, emphasizing both verbal and non-verbal communication. Igort’s graphic novel is noted for its use of figurative realism, ghostification, and color palettes to express trauma. The process of "un-silencing" individual and collective traumas is identified as a way to reconstruct national and personal identities and cope with ongoing Russian aggression. Overall, the study employs theories related to vulnerability and resistance as a decolonizing approach in the analysis of these graphic novels.
