Анотація
The article is devoted to a scientific analysis of solutions journalism as an innovative approach in media communication and to the clarification of its categorical status in relation to constructive, positive, investigative, and citizen journalism. At the theoretical level, the origins of the concept are summarized – from the ideas of constructive journalism and positive psychology to its institutional formation through professional initiatives. The key principles of the approach are outlined: evidence-based nature, criticality, contextualization, evaluation of effectiveness, and the potential for scaling solutions. The author’s definition of solutions journalism is proposed as professional, evidence-based, and critical coverage of responses to socially significant problems. The methodological framework includes a comparative-analytical approach, elements of case content analysis, and a systematic analysis of communicative practices. As a result, solutions journalism and related directions are differentiated according to five criteria (main focus, tone, scope, key question, and social role), which makes it possible to demonstrate its categorical autonomy and practical value for editorial practice. It has been proved that solutions journalism evolves from a practical method into a conceptual paradigm of modern journalism, contributing to strengthening public trust in the media, fostering a culture of responsibility, and motivating civic participation. The scientific novelty lies in the formalization of the author’s definition and unified criteria of comparison, while the practical significance consists in providing methodological guidelines for media practice and media education.
