Abstract
The study examines the phenomenon of the modern mathematics teacher as a researcher from the perspective of a competency-based approach. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to rethink the role of the teacher in the context of educational reform, the need to apply a competency-based model of teaching, and the digitization of the educational space. Today, teachers are positioned not only as bearers of knowledge, but also as organizers of cognitive activity, critical analysts, and creators of new pedagogical solutions, capable of adapting traditional and innovative teaching methods to the needs of students and the specific educational environment. The purpose of this work is to clarify the essence of the concept of “teacher-researcher” and to justify effective ways of introducing a research component into the professional training of mathematics teachers. The modern scientific and methodological discourse on the professional competence of teachers is analyzed, the structure of competencies used to carry out research activities is revealed, the pedagogical conditions for the development of research skills and analytical abilities are characterized, and effective ways of integrating the research component into education are identified. Subject-specific, methodological, research, information and digital, communication, reflective, innovative, and value-motivational competencies are considered key for teacher-researchers. Their comprehensive combination constitutes the professional profile of an educator who can scientifically improve the educational process. It has been proven that the research component can be integrated into the professional training of mathematics teachers through specialized courses, the interaction of practical and scientific activities, the use of digital technologies, and scientific and methodological support. This is how a teacher capable of combining analytical thinking, creativity, and practical efficiency is formed. The results obtained can be used to modernize the training program for qualified mathematics teachers, introduce a competency-based approach to education, and create an innovative pedagogical environment.
