Abstract
In the situation of social turbulence in which Ukrainian society finds itself today, the formation of social forecasting, empathy, and constructive interaction skills in students - future primary school teachers acquires special significance as professionally important qualities of a teacher. The article examines the problem of the formation of social intelligence in future primary school teachers in the context of its influence on the development of professionally important qualities. The essence of the phenomenon of social intelligence, its functions in pedagogical activity and structure are revealed. The key professionally important qualities of a primary school teacher are determined, which correlate with the level of development of social intelligence. The need for targeted development of social intelligence in the system of professional training of teachers, in particular during training at a pedagogical university, is substantiated. It is proved that social intelligence is an integrative characteristic of a teacher's personality and an important condition for his professional formation. The results of an empirical study of the levels of social intelligence of students - future teachers and the relationship between social intelligence and professionally important qualities of a primary school teacher are presented. Modern transformational processes in education in Ukraine actualize the problem of the development of the teacher's personality as a subject of professional activity. The professional effectiveness of a teacher is largely determined by the level of formation of his professionally important qualities, among which a special place is occupied by communicativeness, empathy, reflexivity, pedagogical tact and the ability to constructively interact in the process of educational activity. In the context of the humanistic paradigm of education, social intelligence is considered as a key characteristic of the teacher's personality, which provides an adequate understanding of social situations, prediction of student behavior and effective management of interpersonal interaction in the «teacher-student» and «student-student» systems. It is social intelligence that acts as a system-forming factor that integrates such professionally important qualities as love for children, humanistic orientation, empathy, tolerance, optimism, emotional stability; sociability, pedagogical tact, the ability to prevent and resolve conflicts; flexibility and critical thinking, creativity, the ability to predict the results of pedagogical influence; the ability to organize a children's team, to captivate students in the class with joint activities. For the purposeful formation of social intelligence in the process of professional training of future teachers, a theoretical model of the formation of social intelligence of a future primary school teacher is presented. It consists of a content block containing theoretical and practical training and a technological block that involves the use of methods of active socio-psychological training in the process of professional training.
