Abstract

The article highlights the problem of implementing the communicative-situational approach in Ukrainian language lessons. It is emphasized that this approach is based on modeling real-life situations to develop speech skills, increase motivation to learn the language, and form communicative competence. The main features of the communicative-situational approach are determined; the features of its application in Ukrainian language lessons are substantiated. It is concluded that the implementation of the communicative-situational approach creates significant opportunities for the formation of communicative competence, and therefore, increasing motivation for language learning. It is noted that, having found themselves in conditions that contribute to the development of critical and creative thinking, students gain experience in speech activity in a specific communication situation, thereby clarifying and enriching their vocabulary.
