Анотація
The master’s thesis examines communicative and pragmatic functions of phraseological units in modern German-language mass media discourse. The aim of the research is to determine the role of phraseological units as means of emotionalization, evaluation, dramatization, and pragmatic influence in media texts. Special attention is paid to modified phraseological units and their functions in headlines and journalistic texts. The theoretical part of the study includes the analysis of the concepts of phraseological unit, media discourse, and communicative pragmatics, as well as the development of phraseology in German linguistics. The practical part focuses on the analysis of phraseological units used in German-language economic, political, and social media texts. The research methods applied in the study include context analysis, discourse analysis, descriptive method, pragmatic analysis, and stylistic analysis. The results of the research demonstrate that phraseological units in modern media discourse perform not only expressive and emotional functions but also actively contribute to the evaluation of social processes and influence the recipients. Furthermore, it was established that modified phraseological units possess a high communicative potential and are especially frequent in headlines in order to attract attention and strengthen the pragmatic effect of journalistic statements. The study confirms the hypothesis that phraseological units represent an important instrument of linguistic organization in the German-language media space.
