Анотація

The article explores the development of Translation and Interpreting Studies from traditional qualitative approaches to modern computational and AI-driven methods. It focuses on the growing use of Natural Language Processing, Neural Machine Translation, and Large Language Models (LLMs) for translation analysis, quality assessment, readability improvement, and automated error detection.The research highlights both the advantages and limitations of AI translation: while AI systems provide greater efficiency, scalability, and consistency, particularly in technical and legal contexts, they perform poorly with low-resource languages and struggle to preserve cultural references, stylistic diversity, implicit meanings, and literary nuances. The article also discusses the social and professional effects of automation, including concerns about translators’ autonomy and working conditions. Therefore, a collaborative human-AI approach is presented as the most sustainable solution, combining computational efficiency with human cultural awareness, ethical judgment, and contextual understanding.
