Abstract
Thesis studies professional communication as a factor for the book field (book science, library science, bibliographic science and publishing) development. It depicts the national and international professional communication studies, terminology, and the nature of formal and informal communication processes. The author provides definitions of «professional communication» and «professional communication in the book field». Author describes and summarizes the contribution of research institutions in the formation of the professional communication system in the book field and the formation and development of professional periodicals as the main channel of professional communication. Dissertation studies the impact of scientific societies and professional associations on informal professional communications; the transformation of informal communication relationships in the context of socio-cultural changes. The research results show a system interaction of individual channels of professional communication in the book field and contribute to improving the communication activities efficiency and the wider use of new communication technologies.
