Abstract
The article presents the results of historical and pedagogical studies the problem of professional training of teachers to work in rural schools at the turn of the XX – XXI centuries. Reveals essential changes to the professional requirements caused by the development of rural schools in the structure of the education system of independent Ukraine. Decisive for this period were personal and professional demands on teachers due to the strengthening of ties of the school with socio-cultural environment of village and the needs of society on the modernization of school education on personality-oriented paradigm. It was found that the standard (for the Soviet era) ideological and professional requirements transformed into personal and professional.
