Abstract
The author of the article gives the definitions of such notions as «competence», «professional competence», «competence approach in education»; it is analyzed the foreign professional competency model for the development of the education system; it is grouped the professional competences on the development of the education system; it is defined the general requirements applicable to the professional competence of the expert in the field of education: personal qualities of expert, communicative competence, methodological and methodical literacy, professional training of the expert, practical experience.
