Abstract
The article deals with the question of special necessity of «culturological approach» in the process of studying World literature at High school. The culturological approach is examined from the point of view of semiotics and the famous scientist Yu.Lotman’s idea about Art as a «universal phenomenon». So as a result of it any work of Art can be examined as a certain «text» with its symbols, tropes and various ways of expression. The problem of using culturological approach and special knowledge at World literature lessons has been examined as a current and up-to-date issue by many scientists. In the article there are the examples of «culturological parallels» – certain links between the representatives of World literature and the representatives of various Art forms. In this article, I explore the problem of comparison between the original text and its translation in the process of analysis and interpretation of works of literature. The article as well examines the problem of studying a «culturological context» as explicit information and a «culturological subtext» as the implicit sort of information. The main idea of the article is a representation of the Stages of literary and culturological development of pupils during full course of World literature studying (5–11 forms).
