Abstract
The article examines one of the basic qualities of preschool child’s personality — initiative in the context of philosophers, psychologists, pedagogues’. scientific views. It highlights the relevance of the development of preschool personality’s basic qualities and approaches to initiative development among the children of senior preschool age. It is stated that nowadays the level of preschool children’s initiative has declined. The author associates this fact with decrease of childrens’ time for a game — leading type of preschool child’s activity.
