Abstract

The significance of literary competency in the personal and professional profile of Ukrainian language and literature teachers has been actualized in the paper. The results of theoretical analysis of scientific papers and researches in the field of philological education have been highlighted and generalized scientific positions for consideration of literary competency have been established. The author’s vision of the defined formation that is underlined by such characteristics as integrity, multifunctionality, flexibility, openness, emergence, individualization, existension, subjectivity, etc. has been justified. It has been demonstrated that literary competency is developed in the process of understanding literary and artistic phenomena, their evaluation, interpretation and transfessionalization of the selected meanings of texts’ content, development and design of rational schemes and algorithms of relevant types of activity.
