Abstract
The psychological and pedagogical determinants of successful development of listening skills of students of non-English higher educational institutions are determined: the level of development of mechanisms of listening and internal speech; identifying and overcoming the difficulties of listening, related to psychological and pedagogical peculiarities of the process of audio perception of foreign language; the correlation of level of proficiency in foreign language, the professional development of the individual, the speech competence in listening and the listening skills in the formation of foreign professional competence of future specialists.
