Abstract

The paper deals with the most important syntactic changes of Early Modern English concerned structural semantic patterns of clausal types and verb complementation. It is highlighted and analyzed syntactic relations and patterns of monotransitive verbs of will such as want, wish, desire, require,prefer, call, ask, aim, long taking noun phrases as their complements in the function of a direct object in the history of Early Modern English period. It is defined structural patterns of sentences with monotransitive volitional verbs complemented by noun categorial phrases and highlighted syntactic peculiarities of verbs of will with noun phrases.
