Abstract
The article deals with the formation of self-educational competence of students of pedagogical specialties of higher education institutions of Ukraine. In the modern society, self-education is of particular relevance because it orientates the future teacher on the independent choice of creative tasks, aims at systematic self-control of self-educational activity, self-assessment of their intellectual and most important personal qualities for the specialist, develops cognitive interest. Today, there is a trend of change in attitude towards self-education all over the world, there is a transition from self-education as a pedagogical technology, which involves upgrading skills, improving professionalism professionals to self-education as a way of life.
