Abstract

The basic principles of Montessori pedagogy are briefly defined, an explanation is given to the three main components of the Montessori method due to educating children; the main myths about teaching children the Montessori way are identified briefly, in particular in lower elementary school level; elements of Montessori pedagogical technology are identified that can be used to enhance the cognitive activity of lower elementary school children and act as means of integrating academic disciplines. Examples of such integration are given.
