Abstract
The article reveals the concept of «cognitive interest» as the most important component of the general phenomenon of interest. The psychological and pedagogical features of the development of students' cognitive interests in the process are analyzed primary school. The basic concepts of research are defined and the basic approaches to definition are covered these concepts. The signs of cognitive interest, its characteristic features and the main stages of the process of formation and stages of development of cognitive interest are considered. Emphasis is placed on the fact that at the present stage of education reform one of the main tasks is to create the necessary conditions for the full development and self-realization of the child as a citizen. The activity and educational process of junior schoolchildren is considered as an effective cognitive activity, on which depends the purposefulness of mental activity, the development of intellectual abilities and innate inclinations of students and is the key to effective learning. It is noted that the development of cognitive abilities and skills involves changing not only the general orientation of the active person, but also his emotional sphere: develops a positive attitude to criticism and a desire to share opinions with others, there is a tendency to introspection, confidence and persistence, the ability to apply ideas in practice. It is described that the upbringing of children with stable cognitive interests, their development has always been an urgent problem, because it depends on the activity of students in learning the material, the possibility of independent activity in the classroom, depends on the effectiveness of the teacher. It is emphasized that the development of cognitive interests in younger students is a necessary condition for the development of their cognitive abilities; consolidation of abilities and skills of independent learning and comprehension of educational material, education of aspiration to self-education, formation of elementary intellectual skills necessary for mastering of knowledge from educational disciplines.It is shown that students of one class may have different levels of cognitive interest and different nature of manifestations through different experiences, special ways of individual development.
