Анотація

M.A.K. Halliday paid great attention to the consideration of the concept of «language» from different points of view and positions. The article presents research and analysis of M.A.K. Halliday's scientific heritage to identify and systematize his personal point of view and his understanding of the content of the concept. The definition of the concept of «language» based on the identified essential and «principal» meanings (essential groups) of the content of the concept was synthesized. As a result of the conducted research, in compliance with the scientific requirement of full and monosemantic definitions for the definition of scientific terms and concepts, the generalized definition of the concept of «language» in M.A.K. Halliday's personal understanding was synthesized.
