This chapter outlines digital and multimedia technologies in teaching foreign languages to students of pedagogical specialties. Digital and multimedia technologies have become a fixed element of modern foreign language teaching. In the modern society, this competence is a key tool in teachers’ successful advancement that helps them to realize specific teaching goals, to act professionally and provide the students with innovative knowledge. The purpose of our research is to investigate the didactic possibilities of using the spectrum of digital and multimedia tools for learning a foreign language (using the example of English) in order to improve the linguistic (philological) and communicative competences of students-future teachers of a foreign language for preschool and primary school children. Methods: method of theoretical analysis of concepts of digital and multimedia technologies; method of studying and generalizing scientific publications; method of ascertaining experiment, method of formative experiment (secondary diagnostics); questionnaires; method of mathematical and statistical processing of the obtained results; comparative method; generalization method. While using digital and multimedia technologies in teaching a foreign language, it is essential to take into consideration an individual approach, teacher`s self-development and self-mastering to maintain students` motivation to learning a foreign language and to develop digital competence. It has been found out that the students have been able to improve their foreign language skills in speaking, listening, writing and reading by means of usage in teaching process the digital and multimedia technologies. Further investigations on the topic may relate to the improvement of programs for the implementation of digital and multimedia tools of teaching a foreign language to the educational environment of students of different specialties - with the subsequent definition of universal and specific trends.
