Abstract
The article examines the disadvantages and advantages of using educational platforms for learning foreign languages due to the conditions of distance learning. It has been established that the process of organizing the teaching of foreign languages in distance learning requires the coordination of the work of the teacher and students of education, as well as the presence of an electronic educational environment that can be placed on such platforms as Google Classroom, the personal page of the teacher on the website of the department, the website of the department, personal page the teacher in the social network, the page of the teacher in applications, etc. It was determined that teachers often use the following programs to teach a foreign language: Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, Babbet, Kahoot, etc., but it was determined that these educational platforms cannot replace the teacher himself. It was found that modern educational platforms offer wide opportunities for interaction between teachers and students in the video conference mode: to conduct an oral dialogue with other participants, receive and send messages, display graphics, text and video elements, etc. It has been established that online resources and educational platforms make it possible to teach English at a high professional level and to learn it with pleasure. Advantages and disadvantages of educational platforms for learning foreign languages are considered. It was found that learning foreign languages in the conditions of distance learning is a complex process that requires constant updating and research. On the basis of the conducted research, it was established that the main advantages of distance learning include: saving time, the absence of the problem of the classroom fund, greater mobility, etc., and the disadvantages of this format of education include: the dependence of the educational process on gadgets and the state of the Internet, the psychological unpreparedness of teachers and students to this format of education, the problem of monitoring compliance with academic integrity, etc
