Abstract
In the Japanese linguistic didactics, the problem of functional sentence perspective is mostly represented as “the problem of particles WA and GA”. Effectiveness of the methods of qualification for functional sentence perspective, role of various means of functional sentence perspective in the process of everyday communication, specific weight of each component of functional sentence perspective in the view of linguistics and culture are worth studying on the material of the Japanese language. In our research, we have shifted the focus of attention from the approaches to qualification of functional sentence perspective and the analysis of its means in the modern Japanese language to increasing the effectiveness of comprehending these means by students learning Japanese as a foreign language, as well as to increasing the general level of awareness of the concepts of theme and rheme, because nowadays there is an urgent need for a thorough systematization of information about thematic and rhematic progression as well as development of ways of its optimal representation during Japanese language learning. In this regard, after analyzing a number of valuable scientific and scientific-methodical works, and being guided by our own teaching experience, we have proposed several practical approaches to such a representation. As a result of the study, it has been found, in particular, that the analysis of syntactic environment, in which particles WA and GA are used, seems to be quite relevant and interesting in view of the definition and presentation of positional characteristics of the means of functional sentence perspective in the Japanese language. Specific Japanese syntactic constructions ハ–ガ文 deserve special attention. In our opinion, the method of engaging students in active reflection on the topic of functional sentence perspective and developing hypotheses in the process of tracking consequences of replacing particles in sentences, observing the phenomenon of thematization of various syntactic positions, etc., demonstrates considerable effectiveness. It was confirmed that the aspect of newness of information, or the dichotomy of 既知 known ↔ 未知 unknown, is of great importance and this should be emphasized in the educational process at all its stages. At the initial level of mastery of the Japanese language, we recommend using a simplified approach to explaining the material regarding functional sentence perspective, informing learners about: the aspect of importance for the information being conveyed; the speaker’s desire to focus the interlocutor’s attention on something; peculiarities of the design of description and the basic syntactic rules.
